The incident started around 1 a.m. Friday when the Westport Police Department were called to the area of Hills Point Road for the report of a suspicious vehicle.
Police discovered a black-colored Audi and determined it was stolen, the vehicle then took off and engaged police was in a pursuit in the town of Westport and got onto the Merritt Parkway northbound at Exit 41, said the Connecticut State Police.
The stolen vehicle collided with another vehicle in the area of Exit 42, then continued northbound until the car slammed into a wooden beam guardrail in the area of Exit 48, state police said
Westport Police broke off the pursuit due to an active construction zone in the area, but when the vehicle crashed, they were able to arrest the five people in the vehicle, state police said.
The two crashes occurred at Exit 42 and Exit 48.
It appears there were no injuries during any of the crashes, state police said.
